Where does Snowmass Village get dinner on a Wednesday in early November? Snowmass Tourism's Fall 2026 seasonal closures list answers that question, though it doesn't spell the answer out. Read it as a map instead of a schedule, and a pattern shows up. The businesses that stay open all season are clustered at the Snowmass Center, at the bottom of the village. Every Base Village restaurant on the list closes by November 1, and the first firm reopening date among them is November 20.
For the next six weeks, the center of the village sits downhill, and the hill has a firm reopening date. Aspen Snowmass lists opening day as November 26, 2026, with closing day set for April 11, 2027.
Under the "Snowmass Center Retail" heading, the tourism list marks all four entries "Open all season": Ajax Supply, Clark's Groceries, The Snowmass Dispensary and Sundance Liquor & Gifts. Two restaurants listed under "Other Snowmass Restaurants," The Daly Diner and Taster's, are also open all season. Both are Snowmass Center tenants. When the Town Council approved the Center's redevelopment design, the Aspen Times reported that owner Eastwood Snowmass Investors said Taster's and The Daly Diner could extend their leases through 2041.
So the Center covers groceries, a diner, pizza, a hardware and supply store and a liquor store, every week of the off-season. Nothing else in the village offers that full a set of everyday needs from mid-October to late November.
Taster's is listed as closed on Thanksgiving Day, which in 2026 falls on November 26, the same day the lifts open.
The Center's place in village life is also written into its long-range plan. In January 2025, the Aspen Times reported that the Town Council unanimously approved a revised design. It expands the Center's footprint by 24%, enlarges Clark's Market and doubles the size of the post office. Eastwood said Clark's could extend its lease through 2054. Our research turned up no 2026 report of a construction timeline, so the approved plan is the latest public word, not a project underway.
The Snowmass Mall thins out but stays partly open. Two restaurants are marked "Open through Fall Season": The Tavern and Zane's Tavern. Four Mall retailers are marked open all season: Challenge Aspen, Christy Sports on reduced hours, Daly Bottle & Grain Fine Food and Guapodog.
Most other Mall businesses close in stages through October. Here is what's left on the calendar from today, October 12:
Some Mall businesses closed before today. New Belgium Ranger Station and The Stew Pot closed September 27, Fuel Cafe September 30, Grub Thai October 1 and Venga Venga October 3. The Four Mountain Sports Mall Shop and Pavilion closed October 11. After the Après Deck closes on October 25, the Mall's published restaurant list is down to the two taverns until Rock Island returns in mid-November and the firm reopening dates begin on November 20.
Base Village restaurants have been closing since late September. Crepe Therapy Cafe closed September 27, JUS Snowmass September 29, and Aurum Food & Wine and Montevino October 3. Kenichi Snowmass followed on October 10.
Two hotels are keeping their restaurants open longest. The Lounge at the Limelight serves through October 18. The Viceroy's three outlets, Toro, Lift Line and Cafe V, stay open until November 1. After that, the only Base Village restaurant listed with a return before November 20 is JUS Snowmass, which the list gives only as mid-November. Kenichi's November 20 reopening is the first firm date.
A short list of Base Village businesses carries through. TAC Fitness at One Snowmass East is listed open all season, and Eye Pieces of Snowmass is open all season but may cut its hours. Alux Spalon has its own short break, November 2 through November 9. Four Mountain Kids and the Four Mountain Sports rental and retail shops closed October 4 and reopen November 26.
That makes the quietest stretch of the village calendar about October 25 to November 20. It runs from the day the Après Deck closes on the Mall to the first firm restaurant reopening dates. For most of that window, the Snowmass Center restaurants and the two Mall taverns are the only ones on the list marked open through the fall, with Rock Island and JUS due back sometime in mid-November.
Closures spread across six weeks. Reopenings mostly fall within eight days of each other:
A few businesses come back after opening day. The Edge at the Timberline returns December 1, Ro + Fern December 7 and Pinecreek Cookhouse December 10. Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill and JUS Snowmass are listed only as returning mid-November.
The tourism page adds its own caution about these dates. It notes that many businesses close Mondays and Tuesdays in the off-season and that hours may change as reopening approaches, and it suggests calling ahead or checking online first. The list also leaves dates blank for several businesses, including Il Poggio, Heather's at the Stonebridge Inn, Snacfood and Snowmass Lanes, so their fall schedules can't be read from it.
The village's restaurants are at their quietest from late October to late November, but several local trails are still open then and close soon after. The Town of Snowmass Village enforces wildlife closures under Section 10-29 of the municipal code. Its most recent closure notice lists four trails that close on December 1 and reopen May 16:
The notice was posted November 17, 2025, and covers the 2025-26 season. The Town describes the closures as annual, though we didn't find a 2026-27 schedule. If the dates stay the same, the off-season is the last open stretch on those four trails until mid-May. The Town says Animal Services enforces the closures with Colorado Parks & Wildlife, wildlife cameras watch the closed areas, and fines can reach $5,000. Animal Services can be reached at 970-923-5330.
The spring closures, which include Government Trail east of Elk Camp Work Road from May 15 through June 27, don't affect the fall.
The Aspen Times roundup of what's new for winter 2026-27 names no new restaurant or shop for the village. The changes are rebuilds and renovations of familiar places.
Most of those changes will show up in the week of November 20. Until then, the published schedules point to the same few places for everyday errands: Clark's Groceries, Taster's, The Daly Diner, Ajax Supply and Sundance Liquor & Gifts at the Snowmass Center, plus The Tavern and Zane's Tavern on the Mall.
