Local Lifestyle

The Aspen ideal is the renewal of mind, body, and spirit, apparent in the town's seven neighborhoods. The West End is the original center of Aspen, housing many of the town's cultural hubs, such as Harris Concert Hall and the Red Brick Center for the Arts. This quiet and charming neighborhood contains a mix of architectural styles, mature trees, and small parks for residents to enjoy. West Aspen is popular with families due to its proximity to schools, with plenty of privacy due to its large acreage, and boasts two golf courses. 

Aspen’s neighborhoods also make it easy to access the many outdoor activities. Smuggler contains Aspen's last remaining mine alongside miles of hiking and biking trails. Red Mountain is the most sought-after address, with marvelous views of Independence Pass, Mount Sopris, and Aspen Mountain. McLain Flats has a rich ranching history with its large parcels of land above western Aspen with stunning views of the Elk Mountain Range and beyond. East Aspen is fantastic for outdoor enthusiasts because of its proximity to Northstar Nature Preserve and easy access to the Roaring Fork River. Finally, there is the Central Core, whose streets are lined with delectable restaurants and haute couture designers such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

Aspen presents a diverse set of dining options for its residents. Enjoy the gorgeous art and delicious Italian cuisine of Casa Tua or the array of Japanese dishes and sushi at Matsuhisa. Betula brings its French Pan-American cuisine in its warm and amicable atmosphere that is both casual and chic. 

Additionally, the town contains a multitude of cultural hubs. The Aspen Art Museum showcases a revolving list of contemporary art, from international artists to local artist spotlights. Music and theater lovers can watch performances at the Wheeler Opera House and Aspen Theatre

Things to Do

Explore Aspen's four World Class Ski mountains, including Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk mountain, which is most famous for being ESPN's Winter X Games site. There are also the towering Maroon Bells mountains overlooking Maroon Bells Valley. Travel among the miles of biking and hiking trails through guided tours provided by the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Even when there is no snow, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Aspen's nature, through rock climbing, paddle boarding, or fly fishing at the Roaring Fork River. 

Aside from adventurous outdoor activities, there are plenty of ways to enjoy this mountain town's artistic and innovative culture. The Aspen Music Festival and School present an eight-week classical music festival throughout the summer. During the winter season, the music school holds recitals and musical education opportunities for local families. There is also the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet which hosts a variety of performances, such as the Nutcracker holiday performance, along with offering dance classes for performers of all ages.
